Starboard

Starboard is a story driven first person parkour game about swinging around and fighting pirates!

I worked as a tech designer on this project, working on anything relating to design or scripting. I built or modified a wide slew of mechanics for this game and helped with playtesting and design.

Holographic platforms: only one can be active at a time so you have to jump and shoot as you go.
Explosive Barrel: you hurt it, it hurts everything
Falling rocks for harassing players in the caves.
Turrets I refined the targeting for.
I took ownership of almost all the UI systems in the game. Menus, HUD, objective marker, and so on.

In short, I did a great deal of gameplay programming, UI work, prototyping, and above all else…I had a blast playing this game! I’m so happy this project exists as it does, and I am looking forward to taking what I learned to my future productions!
